The Förderverein Waldrappteam (ZVR: 017715608) was founded in 2002. The aim of this association is the promotion of scientific projects for the conservation and reintroduction of Northern Bald Ibis (Geronticus eremita). 2014 to 2019 the Förderverein Waldrappteam led the LIFE+ project "Reason for Hope" as Coordinating Beneficiary and continues the reintroduction project from 2020 on, with support of numerous partners and sponsors.
Salzburg provides the second breeding area of our Northern Bald Ibises. Land Salzburg supports the LIFE+ project mainly by the installation of the needed infrastructure and selective public relations.
Tierpark Rosegg (Carinthia) supports the reintroduction project by providing Northern Bald Ibis nestlings from their sedentary colony for the hand-raising and human-led migration.
As Italian partner of the LIFE+ project Parco Natura Viva (Verona) supports us mainly by organization, communication and public relation in Italy. In addition it plays an important role within the campaign against illegal hunting in Italy.
From 2014 to 2016 as well as 2018 and 2019, the hand-raising of the Northern Bald Ibis nestlings in the context of the LIFE+ project "Reason for Hope" took place at Zoo Vienna. In autumn, those birds were guided to the wintering area (Tuscany). In 2021 another group of Northern Bald Ibises will be hand-raised at Zoo Vienna.
For years Zoo Vienna also supports the project by organizing various information events.
